If 2017 is any indication, then we’re all going to need some extra time to wind down in 2019. Luckily, it’s only January, and we have enough time to plan out all the activities we want to do this year. We have searched far and wide and came up with a list of fun and interesting, out of the box leisure activities which you will actually enjoy doing.
1. Horseback Riding
Admit it. You’ve always wanted to do it, but never had the courage to try it. 2018 is your year, then! Horseback riding is available all year long. This means that you can choose a season which is most favorable to you or you can actually go the entire year. Moreover, you don’t benefit just from the riding itself. Equestrian establishments typically organize rides in nature which include sightseeing on fantastic trails. You can also take them in wintertime in the snow or summertime on the beach. And, last but not least, you get to fraternize with a majestic animal that has been one of man’s best friends for thousands of years.
2. Muggle Quidditch
You know about Quidditch, sure. You’ve seen all the games played for the Hogwarts Cup and the World Cup, but did you know there’s also Muggle Quidditch? And that you can take it up as a leisure activity? You get to be part of a team as a Beater, Chaser, Keeper, Seeker or, surprise, the Snitch! Here’s how it works.
3. Escape Room
Going to an escape room has not been a fad at all. It started a few years ago, and it’s still going strong. In fact, escape rooms are getting better and better, incorporating newer technology. This means that the experience of spending an hour in there trying to solve a puzzle is more thrilling than ever. Themes include the ever-popular zombie room, mad scientist, jungle theme, help Frodo take the ring to Mordor, find the pirates’ treasure, and more leisure activities.

4. Scavenger Hunt
But not just any scavenger hunt. There are museums around the world, such as the British Museum, the Louvre or the Musee d’Orsay which organize treasure hunts inside their walls for you and your friends. They have special themes, depending on what you want, which include The Love Hunt, Brit Babes, Skull Scouting for the more courageous, and Fun + Games.
The Love Hunt, for example, sends you on a search for romantic love clues, conjugal love, Cupid and his arrows, Greek wedding gifts that tell the story of the marriage between Peleus and Thetis, the parents of the famous warrior Achilles, and more naughty things. This will be a leisurely activity to remember.
Our four fun ideas of leisure activities include horseback riding, scavenger hunts through some of the biggest museums in the world, Muggle Quidditch, and escape rooms. Forget about walks in the park and going to the mall. These are things you really want and should be doing in your time off!
