When you interview a candidate, don’t allow them simply to recite their resume. Instead, try to ask key questions that will unlock the secret of their personality and emotional intelligence.   • What would you say has been your biggest accomplishment up to date?
  • Your goals – what were they last year?
  • What were you angry about at work last month?
  • Do you prioritize your work every day? How?

3. Ask the Right Questions | Mitchell Harper

Mitchell Harper is the co-founder of Bigcommerce and founder of PeopleSpark. He is here to share a few great questions that you should always ask in interviews if you want to know how to hire people. Here they are:

  • Tell me what you like and dislike about our business. What would you do to change what you don’t like?
  • What books are you reading right now?
  • At your current job, what problems did you have to solve and how did you do it?
  • What are you most proud of accomplishing from a professional standpoint and why?
  • Have you been involved in any team sports in your life?
  • What is your idea of fun?
  • I don’t think you’re right for this job.

The last one is not really a question, nor are you actually telling the candidate the truth. You simply need to test his or her reaction to this piece of news. If they say alright, then get up and leave, tailor your response to that. If they look unimpressed as if this doesn’t matter to them, then you have your answer right there. However, if they try to change your mind, you might be on to something.
