If you are looking for a daily pick-me-up, maybe you should consider some confidence building exercises every morning. We are not talking here about really complicated ones, just some quick and easy things you can do before walking out the door and facing that day’s challenges. Sometimes, we all need help dealing with whatever life throws at us. Practicing some daily confidence building exercises can go a long way in making us feel better. That is why, we decided to provide you with 4 great examples you can try starting today.
Daily Confidence Building Exercises
1. Compliment Yourself
Even though it might sound quite strange, sometimes you have to acknowledge your self-worth and remind yourself of what your strengths are. This is a really quick exercise that you can do every morning. You can even look in the mirror while you do so, if you want it to have more of an impact on your mood. It might be quite difficult at the beginning, especially if you struggle with low self-esteem, but if you keep practicing, you will soon be able to come up with more and more things you like about yourself.
2. Don’t Shy Away from Eye Contact
This exercise should also start with yourself, and you can easily relate it to the first one. While you remind yourself of the things that you excel at, try to maintain eye contact with yourself as much as possible. This is a good start to you not shying away from eye contact with other people anymore. If you tend to look down when someone is talking to you, or focus your attention on other objects because you feel intimidated, this is a great exercise for you. You need to learn how to exude confidence with your look.
3. Adjust Your Body’s Position
Take a second to think about your usual posture. Is it the posture of a confident person? Is your head held high and your chest lifted? If not, then you should practice this every single morning, if only for a few minutes. You have no idea how much confidence you can gain from the right posture. Keeping your head down and attempting to become invisible as much as possible is not the attitude for someone who feels confident in their abilities.
4. Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
Most of us lack confidence when we are not in a place that feels comfortable and familiar. So if you want to test your confidence levels and learn how to trust yourself and your abilities no matter the setting, you should start small. Even if this exercise is part of a much bigger challenge, that of completely getting out of your comfort zone, there are small steps that you can take every day to make this possible. For instance, try to do something you wouldn’t normally do every day on your way to work. Things like going into the wrong store on purpose and asking for something completely unrelated. Or being wrong on purpose and accepting to be corrected.
Remember that whenever we lack confidence, it is because we fear being proven wrong. But if you think about it, everybody is wrong about things. Most of the time, you are the one giving more importance to this than anyone around you ever will. Practice these daily confidence building exercises and you will learn this with time.
