Elon Musk has provided many with the inspiration they needed to achieve their dreams. The South African-born Canadian-American inventor, engineer, business magnate, and investor is a perfect example of how you can succeed if you put a lot of work and passion into what you do. Today, we are going to look at a brief Elon Musk biography, and tell you some facts that you maybe didn’t know about him.
Elon Musk Biography
Elon Musk was born in 1971 in South Africa, and he was passionate about computers from the very beginning. He bought his first one when he was 10. When he was 12, he had already designed a software for a game called Blastar. Musk attended Queen’s University in Canada for 3 years, after which he moved to Pennsylvania to go to university there. He studied business and physics.
He wanted to do his Ph.D in energy physics at Stanford University, but he gave that up to open his own company, Zip2 Corporation. This turned out to be an inspired move, since Compaq Computer Corporation bought it in 1999. After this transaction, Musk got $307 million in cash and $34 million in stock options. In 1999, Musk also founded an online financial services company called X.com, which later turned into the world renowned PayPal.
But he hasn’t stopped there. Since two companies didn’t seem like enough, he founded a third one in 2002. Musk called this one Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, or SpaceX. What he wanted to achieve with this company was the building of a spacecraft for commercial space travel. His efforts were once more successful, since in 2008, NASA gave SpaceX the responsibility to handle transport to the International Space Station.
#The Musk Foundation
Since he became passionate about space exploration, Musk also decided to found the Musk Foundation. The foundation is dedicated precisely to this purpose, and to the preservation of the human race through the discovery of clean and renewable energy sources.
As impressive as the Elon Musk biography is, it wouldn’t be complete without the mention that he also founded Tesla Motors. This is a company that produces electric cars which are also affordable for the public.
In 2012, Elon Musk managed to make history. That was the year when his company, SpaceX, launched its first unmanned Falcon 9 rocket into space. This was the first time ever when a private company such as SpaceX managed to get a spacecraft to the International Space Station.
But our Elon Musk biography doesn’t stop here. In 2013 he has presented the world with an idea for a new means of transportation. He says that it could get you where you want to go much faster, by propelling you through a network of low-pressure tubes. You can do that while safely resting in a pod. Although it seems like a long way to go until we reach that point, this idea only confirms Musk’s unstoppable force of energy.
